I’ve been playing with #Friendica, running in web mobile mode with #Bookface UI.

If this app ever gets a dedicated mobile client, it’s likely to become the next breakout #SocialWeb platform. It really does offer most of what you want in a #Facebook-like service.

Events? It has that. Groups? It has that too. The only thing that’s actually missing is a marketplace feature. However, someone could probably build that too.

However, once a mobile app is made, I have no doubt we’ll see lots of adoption.

Friendica (friendi.ca) needs developers to help on the frontend, between the server-side PHP modules and views and the client-side HTML/CSS/Javascript aspect.

Basically, replies by Friendica accounts using direct/mentions visibility in apps that rely on the Mastodon API will actually be public.

The linked issue mentions Fedilab as an example, but apparently this bug affects any Friendica-compatible app which relies on the Mastodon API.

Friendica is a very flexible type of server on the Fediverse: it lets you follow Mastodon accounts, other types of Fediverse account, RSS feeds, Twitter etc. There are no specific character limits on posts. It also has additional features such as, calendars, photo albums, groups etc.

It has just received a major update, you can follow the official project news account at @news

#Friendica needs new contributors!

I'm not used to do this, but with the large influx of new users and node admins recently coming from #Twitter, our small team is now behind the curve for handling support requests, bug reports and bring about much-needed features.

The project is built on a #PHP/#MySQL platform, but we also need people to be able to assist others just using the software to give developers some space.

Go to your settings, select the "Display" tab, and under "Content/Layout" section you can find an option called "Stay local". Enable that option and click "Save settings". Next time you click on someone's profile you won't be redirected to a different instance, it'll stay local so you can follow them directly 😉

There are a bunch of other social apps, but to be honest #Mastodon for me seems to be the most polished & has the most users (so it's the most social).
