European Citizen Initiative is OPEN - SIGN NOW (we're 37% there!!)

stopkilinggames.com

I signed the EU initiative, and you should too!
Games being bricked after you bought them should be illegal, it's that simple.

Please tell your friends - this needs over a million signatures, but we're in the hundreds of thousands. We can do this!

Here Ross Scott explains what this is about:

It is stupid, but in #Czechia I'm unable to sign this using bank identity because of some legislative reasons.

Is this same case in other countries?

in reply to Schmaker

@schmaker In Poland I think I tried to use digital govt id, but it didn't work. I reported the issue and had to resort to just typing in my personal info by hand.

A new video update on the #StopKillingGames campaign:

TL;DW: California does a weird thing that's probably more bad than good, US is a lost cause - all hope in EU, Ubisoft seems to have gotten the message, but we're not past 50% signatures yet and the rate is slowing down - we need to spread this message, get our gamer friends to help, but not just them - we're fighting for basic consumer rights. If this non-ownership BS becomes accepted, it will spread to other things.

It **already has**.

@drq Yes, but if we can hit the nail on the games, we have a better chance of reversing this crap elsewhere.
We can't go wrong supporting this initiative - it can only help things. No excuses! Sign and spread the word! We CAN make a difference!

I would sign but unfortunately (for many reasons) I'm in the US. Y'all get to focus on stuff like keeping games from being bricked and over here we're scrambling to keep our country semidemocratic. (Good luck with that petition, by the way! It'll set a good precedent.)

@fredbrooker It's not just about Ubisoft - but their practices and the case of The Crew is a good starting point - a lot of gamers bought it and have felt the pain here.
If you have EU citizenship (even if you live outside) and are above voting age - you can sign!

If we pass 1M signatures (we're 37% there!) the initiative will have to be evaluated by EU government and we have a high chance of getting such shitty practices condemned by law.

That'd be an incredible win for the consumer rights.
